About PIM

Diminishing land holding size & dwindling agricultural productivity had been the major concern of state planners. Wide gap in created & utilized irrigation potential prompts the planners to utilize water resources in a judicious way. Farmers' involvement in water resources is one of the ways to enhance water use efficiency.Participatory Irrigation Management (PIM) is another name of farmers' involvement in irrigation management. There is general consensus that participation of farmers in irrigation management may be a tool for improved water use efficiency. Government of Uttar Pradesh had adopted a progressive water policy in 1999 which state involvement of farmers for improving water use efficiency.

Objectives of Participatory Irrigation Management

Module for capacity building of WUAs

  • A 4 day Capacity building training Of Dy / Minor level WUAs on Organizational issues, Financial Issues, Technical issues like construction & maintenance of canals procedure & Water Management issues as provided in UP Participatory irrigation management Act 2009.
